🥘 Ingredients

  • butter
  • onion
  • dried oregano
  • garlic cloves
  • crushed red pepper flakes
  • all-purpose flour
  • milk
  • tomato juice
  • crushed tomatoes
  • sugar
  • salt
  • parmesan cheese
  • crouton
  • fresh ground black pepper

📝 Instructions

  1. 1 in a bowl combine 2 cups tomato juice with crushed tomatoes and milk
  2. 2 in a saucepan melt the butter over medium-high heat
  3. 3 add in onion and dried oregano
  4. 4 saute until softened
  5. 5 add in garlic and red pepper flakes
  6. 6 cook stirring for 2 minutes
  7. 7 add in flour and stir for 1 minute
  8. 8 slowly add in the tomato / milk mixture whisking constantly to remove any lumps
  9. 9 bring to a boil stirring frequently until bubbly and thickened , then season with sugar , salt and pepper
  10. 10 reduce heat to low , add in remaining 1 cup of tomato juice and simmer uncovered for 45 minutes to 1 hour
  11. 11 ladle into bowl then sprinkle with parmesan cheese and croutons if desired
  12. 12 delicious !
