  • all-purpose flour
  • cocoa
  • baking powder
  • salt
  • milk
  • butter
  • vanilla extract
  • light brown sugar
  • water
  • whipped topping

📝 Instructions

  1. 1 heat oven to 350'f
  2. 2 in medium bowl stir together 3 / 4 cup granulated sugar , flour , 3 tbls
  3. 3 cocoa , baking powder and salt
  4. 4 blend in milk , butter and vanilla , beat until smooth
  5. 5 pour batter into 8- or 9-inch square baking pan
  6. 6 in separate bowl , stir together remaining 1 / 2 cup granulated sugar , brown sugar and remaining 4 tablespoons cocoa
  7. 7 sprinkle mixture evenly over batter
  8. 8 pour hot water over top
  9. 9 do not stir
  10. 10 bake 35 to 40 minutes or until center is almost set
  11. 11 let stand 15 minutes
  12. 12 spoon into dessert dishes , spooning sauce from bottom of pan over top
  13. 13 garnish with whipped topping
