Mr. Miyagi

Nariyoshi Miyagi, better known as Mr. Miyagi, is a fictional character in the four original films of The Karate Kid franchise, portrayed by Pat Morita. A wise, Japanese-born American karate master, he mentors Daniel LaRusso in the first three films (1984-1989) and Julie Pierce in The Next Karate Kid (1994).

The sequel series Cobra Kai (2018-present) frequently references Miyagi, who is stated to have died between The Next Karate Kid and Cobra Kai. Cobra Kai is itself thematically structured via The Miyagi-Verse, in reference to characters who knew Mr. Miyagi.

Miyagi's in-canon birth and death dates are June 9, 1925 and November 15, 2011, respectively.
